Run in 2008/2009, this was a vocational TV training scheme for nine Welsh-speaking trainees. It was a full time, 12 month scheme based in Caernarfon, Cardiff and Swansea.

INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION COMPANIES

It was run in collaboration with Wales’s independent production companies. These included Mwnci (Boomerang Group), Cwmni Da, Green Bay, Indus Films, Presentable, Rondo Media and Teledu Telesgop.

SPECIALISED GRADES

During the first month of the course, the trainees were involved in an intensive induction programme with established producer Sue Jeffries. For the remainder of the course, the trainees specialised in their chosen fields. These included:

  • Six Trainee Researchers
  • A Trainee Editor and Post-Production Operator
  • A Trainee Production Co-ordinator
  • A Trainee Production Secretary

TRAINING ADVANTAGES

The scheme provided trainees with:

  • A weekly training allowance
  • Individual training plans
  • Mentoring by industry practitioners
  • A training budget for external short courses
  • They also worked towards a City and Guilds Induction Certificate for the Audiovisual Industries.
