As a graduate, Cyfle has placed me in the best position I could ever ask to be in - especially with all this and nurturing support structure behind me
What were you doing before becoming a trainee on a Cyfle scheme?
I was a university graduate with two commissions from the Herefordshire council behind me.
How did you hear about Cyfle, and what were your expectations?
- I heard about the scheme through the Cyfle newsletter.
- Industry led training facilitators that will pay ME to gain experience, my 1st thought was its got to be too good to be true, especially with its origins laying directly with S4/C.
Please list the projects you have worked on and note who was involved in the production:
- Talie (grading)
- Torchwood, (dubbing)
- Coast, (grading, conforming)
- Human-Planet, (Frame rate converting)
- TeliTailes, (editing)
- Sarah Jane, Doctor Who Confidential, (grading, on-lining/green screen)
Which aspects / elements of the work have you enjoyed the most?
- Baselight (grading equipment),
- 3 days 1-2-1 training with experienced editing professionals
- Seeing close up what the industry is actually like,
- Exposure to expensive equipment that I wouldn’t normally get access to,
- I feel professionally nurtured and supported,
- Making contacts,
- Being able to ask technical questions and really believe in the certified answers,
- How welcoming the people within the television industry actually are!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What would you have liked to achieve by then?
I would like to see myself in the position of an online-editor with a large understanding of the grading process, ideally working in drama and film, Possibly looking towards setting up my own post/production Company.
