MULTIPLATFORM PRODUCTION SCHEME FOR TV CREATIVES 2010
April-August 2010

The Multiplatform Production Scheme for TV Creatives was a 4 month full time intensive, hands on, immersion into the Multiplatform World, which provided trainees with a toolbox of skills to produce detailed exciting content.
Taught by industry professionals, with master classes from UK practitioners, this was a practical training course for working in the Multiplatform World of today, which also resulted in a Post Graduate Certificate - Professional Practice in the Creative Industries (awarded by the University of Glamorgan).
Mat Fidell, Senior Producer, Wales Interactive - Network at BBC Cymru Wales said of the course ‘The creativity with which the trainees took on the various challenges set by industry was second to none. This Cyfle training scheme not only demonstrates the requirements of real working life, but is also unique in the way it produces highly skilled individuals ready for the professional environment.’
As part of the scheme the trainees worked on a series of 4 industry briefs set by Tinopolis(create a hyper local news iPhone App), Telesgop(re-design the 'Ffermio' website), Gลตyl Arall (create a pervasive game) and Savvy Productions (develop ideas to extend their project, the 'Cupid Concept').

More about the Trainees
MATTHEW ROGERS
Where are you now?
I am currently working at the BBC Wales in the Interactive Department. I work on The Sarah Jane Adventures and also help out on Doctor Who.
What you felt the course did for you?
The course taught me a great deal of skills needed for the media industry and I learnt a lot about creating multiplatform content. I also made a lot of good contacts on the course and having a Cyfle course on my CV goes a long way in the media industry. I've met quite a few other people at the BBC who also did a Cyfle course.
How do you feel about the course and your experience with Cyfle?
I think the Cyfle course was great and without it I would not be working in the media industry doing a job I enjoy. The course was hard work, but also fun and the staff at Cyfle are great. Everyone there is of great help, during the course and after.
JOSE GARNES

I’m working for Ceidiog, a television company that is mainly focus on children television from studio base shows to documentaries. My job role includes anything in between filming and taking care of our presence online for our company and different brands.
What you felt the course did for you?
It helped me to be a more attractive employer as I had more skills than before I got there and also gave me I great advantage with all the knowledge and information about new media and digital media, that is highly lacking in the welsh industry.
How do you feel about the course and your experience with Cyfle?
The course was a great way to immerse into the multi platform world. During my experience on the course I was able to work in different types of projects that gave me the ability to approach different situation in the future. Also the staff in Cyfle are more than supportive and have a great amount of experience and always have time to have a chat if you have any questions or doubts.
If I had the chance to go back in time, I would take this course every time, as I have come out of it with more experience and knowledge that I could dream of.

Where are you now?
I'm a freelance trans-media writer working on a tv programme and multi-platform stuff for Rondo Media production company.
What you felt the course did for you?
The course helped me immensely. Not only with my understanding of how the media landscape is changing but also with how I can use the change to my advantage and to forge a career for myself in a competitive marketplace.
How do you feel about the course and your experience with Cyfle?
The tutors were leaders in their fields and were inspirational. I couldn’t have had the chance to meet so many of them otherwise.
Also, the course leader was always at hand to push us a little bit further and to think outside the box for the projects we were working on.
I’ve never worked so hard or learnt so much in 4 months. But it’s because of Cyfle and the course that I’m now able to do what I love as a living.
