Cyfle would like to pay tribute to one of our former trainees, Quirine Charlton (nee Robbins) who passed away on 17th January 2010 at Wenvoe, aged 29.
Quirine graduated from Cardiff University, with a First Class Hons in English Literature (BA). She joined Cyfle in 2004 when she was selected to attend a 1 year training scheme as a Trainee Researcher. She then went on to work for the Welsh independent production company Green Bay Media. She gained experience in the development and production of drama, films and factual TV and radio. Quirine also worked as an Assistant Producer on various BBC documentaries, as well as working as a Producer for ‘Poems People Love’, for BBC Radio Wales. In addition to working full time, she attended many courses including a scriptwriting night class at Cardiff University, and had also shadowed a Producer from Green Bay when they attended the Cannes Film Festival.
Quirine was a regular attendee of Cyfle short courses, before returning to us as a full time trainee in 2007 on the 10 month Boom Film Producer Development Scheme. One of the her many achievements was to write an episode of the BBC Wales drama ‘Crash’, and she was also a Script Editor on the feature film ‘Big Font, Large Spacing'.
Quirine was an enthusiastic, passionate, fun loving, talented and generous person. She always had a smile on her face and could light up a room with her personality. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Our thoughts go out to Quirine’s husband and family during this extremely difficult time.
