The BAFTA Cymru awards night came around again on Sunday 29th of September 2013, and the Cyfle posse were there in their ‘glad rags’ to support all the nominees..especially two of Cyfle’s former trainees of course!
It was an entertaining evening with the sunshine ensuring that the posh frocks and red carpet kept dry. We were there to celebrate Welsh talent, and there was a lot to celebrate!
Huge congratulations to Richard Wyn Huws, one of Cyfle’s first ever camera trainees in 1987, who won the Photography and Lighting category for his work on Alys. This isn’t the first time Richard has celebrated success at BAFTA Cymru, he also won in 2009 for his work as Director of Photography on Martha, Jac a Sianco.
Equally huge congratulations also go to Sara Parry Jones, as Editing trainee with Cyfle in 2000 who won in the Editing category for her work on Series 1 of Stella. Sara has led a successful career working on large productions such as Being Human, Whites, and the film Bubbles.
We are always very proud of former Cyfle trainees and their achievements, knowing that we were there at the beginning to give them the push they needed to develop and blossom in their careers in industry.
From new entrants to the creative industries to those who have been working in them for years, we are delighted that we still offer relevant, up to the minute training of the highest standard by the industry, and for the industry in Wales.
By attending one of Cyfle’s training courses and schemes, who knows, maybe you will be next to win an award! And don’t forget to let us know if you are successful, so that we can shout it from the rooftops on your behalf of course!
